San Diego Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty) - Recovery

Immediately after your nose surgery (casually referred to as a "nose job"), your nose will be taped and a splint will be used to temporarily stabilize it. A team of experienced nurses will carefully monitor you for any complications. As the anesthesia wears off, your nose and head will suffer from a dull ache; pain medication will be provided to minimize any discomfort. Over the course of the next day, your face is likely to feel bloated. It is recommended that you keep your head raised during this time. You should expect black eyes initially, as well as swelling and bruising, both of which can be reduced by applying a cold compress. Please be advised to refrain from any activity with the potential to either injure your new nose or increase your blood pressure.

Finally, please be sure to arrange for a family member or friend to drive you home from Dr. Chaffoo's Murrieta or La Jolla cosmetic surgery center and then to stay there with you over the course of the next couple of days, as you might benefit from some help around the house. You will be provided with detailed post-operative care instructions to take with you. From time to time throughout your recovery, you will meet with Dr. Chaffoo so that he can evaluate your progress.
