Get Sexier Pout Without Surgery
Dr. Chaffoo explains how collagen injections and other fillers can bring your lips to a more youthful position.
SAN DIEGO – Doctors are combining two key ingredients to give women's lips a more natural look, 10News reported.
Collagen injections and other fillers can give you a sexy pout even if your lips are showing signs of aging.
"They have been thinner and thinner and thinner and I look in the mirror and I say those are really not my lips," said patient Kris Sieban.
"In the aging process, there is a loss of collagen, which is one of the things that actually helps plumps lips up. There's a loss of hyaluronic acid. There's a loss of elastic fibers," explained Scripps plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Chaffoo.
Now, doctors are refining the lip-plumping process by combing two injectable products -- human collagen and hyaluronic acid -- for an even better result, 10News reported. Chaffoo said combining the two products can give aging lips a makeover.
"We can improve the definition to the lip or lip line," Chaffoo told 10News.
Cosmoplast is a human-derived collagen that gives patients a soft and supple lip. Captique is hyaluronic acid that can give the lips more definition.
"The nice thing with the products is that if there is an over correction it will reabsorb, unlike the permanent fillers," Chaffoo said.
The lip-plumping technique was exactly what Sieban was looking for.
"I would like to 'oomph' up (my lips) a little bit," Sieban said.
Chaffoo injected Cosmoplast into Sieban's lips and it instantly plumped her lips.
Next, Sieban's lips were injected with hyaluronic acid which smoothed out the wrinkles surrounding her lips.
A few minutes later, Sieban was able to see the results and she got the pout she was after.
"I can't wait to kiss my granddaughter. I love them," Sieban said..
The lip-plumping combo only lasts three to four months and costs between $800 and $900.
